What is Halitosis ( Bad Breath )?

Can bad breath be caused by other problems?

Halitosis can be caused by other medical conditions also, including infections, gum disease ( gingivitus ), tooth decay, diabetes, kindney failure, or liver malfunction. It can also be caused by sinus problems, xerostomia ( dry mouth ), and smoking. Additional sources include dieting, smoking, age, stress, snoring, and hormonal changes. Cancer patients may notice an increase of bad breath due to dry mouth associated with taking radiation therapy. Some instances may be caused by compounds originating from the stomach but are considered rare.
